mui Lab, partners with DSR to develop an open platform for smart homes

mui Lab (Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City) announced on the 13th that it has a business partnership with DSR Corporation in the United States, which develops software specialized in wireless-derived technologies. We will promote the joint development and commercialization of an open platform for smart homes regardless of communication standards, and provide it to domestic housing, energy, and equipment manufacturers as a "life OS".

mui Lab has partnered with domestic house manufacturers and energy companies to develop solutions such as the wooden smart home controller "mui board". In 2023, the "mui platform" developed by the company has acquired software certification for the common standard "Matter" for smart homes.

DSR has been involved in standard development since the Zigbee Alliance, the predecessor of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), which formulated Matter, and communication in the smart home area I am familiar with technology.

By partnering with the two companies, we will promote the development of the "Life OS", a platform that crosses Matter, which has not been compatible with the past, and the communication standard "ECHONET Lite", which is popular in Japan. " Across three standards, including "WebAPI", it will be possible to integrate control of domestic and international housing facilities and smart home devices. DSR will lead the development and maintenance of Matter implementation, and mui Lab will lead the promotion and service design of projects for business development.

It will also comply with the latest "Matter1.5" and will support opening and closing devices such as lighting, energy management, and electric shutters. We are also considering acquiring Matter certification. Businesses can integrate their own services and applications and provide them as their own brands while utilizing data based on the OS of life.

Kazunori Oki, CEO of mui Lab, said, "The partnership with DSR is a unique partnership that brings together technical strength that is familiar with both Matter and ECHONET Lite. In addition to accelerating the response of Japanese companies to Matter, we will also pave the way to show our presence in the global smart home market as "Japan Standard".
